Srinagar. Three militants of Jaish-e-Mohammed were killed in an encounter with security forces during a siege and search operation in Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir early Wednesday. Along with this, five militants have been killed in two encounters during the last 24 hours in Pulwama. Internet service has been suspended in the district since Tuesday for security reasons. Official sources said that the National Rifles, Central Reserve Police Force and Special Operations Group (SOG) personnel of Jammu and Kashmir Police conducted a siege and search operation in Kangan area of Pulwama in the early hours today on receiving intelligence about the presence of terrorists.
Sources said the security forces sealed all exit routes and conducted door-to-door searches. He said that while the security forces were moving towards a target area in the village, the terrorists hiding there started firing on them with state-of-the-art automatic weapons.
Security forces also retaliated in which three terrorists were killed. The three terrorists belonged to Jaish-e-Mohammed. Objectionable material, ammunition and weapons have been recovered from them.
Meanwhile, mobile internet service has been suspended to prevent rumors in the area. Additional security forces have been deployed in nearby areas to thwart any attempt to protest. Significantly, two militants were killed in the operation of security forces in Soimoh village of the district. Internet service was suspended since then.
