Washington Seven tennis federations around the world have raised $ 6 million to help players because of sports activities caused by the corona virus. The WTA, ATP and the International Tennis Federation (ITF) and four Grand Slams gave this information in a joint statement on Tuesday. The statement said that it is a positive step to start a relief program to help the players in this difficult period.
ATP and WTA have been targeted to help around 800 doubles and singles players who need financial help. According to the statement, financial assistance will be given based on the ranking of players and the previous prize money.
According to the statement, funds were collected for this fund through auctions, player assistance and dummy tennis matches. It is notable that due to corona virus, professional tennis has been postponed till 13 July.
